Dr. Anjali Chhabria, a leading psychiatrist and psychotherapist of India, is recognized for her outstanding contribution to the field of mental health. The founder of Mindtemple, she finished her MBBS from J.J. Group of Hospitals in the year 1985 and has been a practicing consultant and psychiatrist for the past 25 years. Pursuing a Diploma in Psychotherapy, she completed her M.D. in 1990 from Nair Charitable Hospital, (Mumbai). She is also a past-life regression therapist, having trained under renowned psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss.
She was conferred the honor of being the youngest president of the Bombay Psychiatric Society in 2001, and has served on the board of the Children’s Film. Dr. Anjali Chhabria has been on the Board of directors for the NGO ‘Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation’ since 2010. Currently she is also a director for Salaam Bombay Foundation, which aims to empower children to make the right choices for their health, education, and livelihood.
Dr. Chhabria is the first author to write a book on suicide, named “Death Is Not the Answer,” which breaks the taboo on discussing this sensitive topic and provides the readers with ways to prevent it. A regular columnist, she continues to be a household name through her contributions to newspapers and magazines such as The Times of India, Mid-day, DNA, India Today, Indian Express, Physician’s Digest, Femina, Women’s era, Sindhian, Free Press Journal, Savvy, The Teenager Today, and Harmony on several emotional health and interpersonal relationships issues.
She has been a speaker at several seminars and conferences, both national and international on various topics of mental health such as suicide, LGBT, maintaining relationships, and parental role. She has also graced the panels on various television shows and interviews like Satyameva Jayate with the aim of spreading awareness about mental health by reaching a larger audience. In addition, she is a regular speaker ‘on air’ for the local radio station- ‘Radio Mirchi’ and has given inputs on other local radio stations like 92.7 F.M. She has conducted innumerable workshops for children, adults and geriatrics on mental health and emotional hygiene across schools, colleges, institutions and corporate houses. She has been a lecturer at prestigious institutions like R.N. Cooper & K.E.M group of hospitals, as well as a visiting faculty member for many educational institutes all over Mumbai like SNDT University, SIES College, DAV school (Nerul), Tata Institute of Social Sciences etc.
Over the past twenty-five years of medical service, she has been a pioneer in encouraging the seeking of professional psychiatric help, breaking generations of taboo and is highly respected by both peers and clients.
