Counseling
Counselling is professional help in managing personal problems, including emotional, behavioural, vocational, marital, educational, rehabilitation, and life-stage related concerns.
Types of Counselling
Individual counselling:
A therapist sees one client at a time, tailoring the process to his/her/their unique needs in the exploration of contributory factors and alleviation of symptoms.
Couple counselling:
Couples therapy is concerned with problems within and between the individuals that affect the relationship.
Family counselling:
It’s the counselling of parents or other family members by psychologists, social workers, licensed counsellors, or other professionals, who provide information, emotional support, and practical guidance on problems faced in the family context.
Grief Support Groups:
The process of grief, loss and bereavement is a critical part of human life. Mindtemple has formulated and conducted grief support groups for those who have lost a loved one (to covid and cancer). Support groups meet once a week for a stipulated period of time and are conducted by trained/qualified facilitators.
HIV Counselling:
Patients who are aware that they have HIV infection or disease may experience significant psychosocial and psychological distress due to their fear of being rejected, social stigma, disease progression, and the uncertainties surrounding their treatment options in the future.
ADD Counselling:
At Mindtemple, we provide specialised therapy for individuals with ADD, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Auditory Processing Disorder, Language Processing Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, and Visual Perceptual Disabilities. Our senior Psychotherapist Kanan Kanakia has specialised in Cognitive-behavioural therapy that can help these Individuals learn techniques to manage their tasks and control their maladaptive behaviours.
Past Life Regression:
Past Life Regression is a gentle form of hypnotherapy which takes an individual back through time to their previous lives or incarnations by accessing memories and experiences .A PLR session guides you out of the noise and into a deeply quiet and peaceful state where it’s far easier to locate the memories held in your subconscious mind.
Modes of Counselling
Online counselling:
Computer aided technologies are used by the trained professional counsellors and individuals seeking counselling services to communicate rather than conventional face-to-face interactions .
In person counselling:
In person counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having.
Home visit consultations:
By making home visits one sees the environment in which the client lives, observes family and other relevant social interactions at first hand and develops a fuller diagnostic understanding of the patient for appropriate treatment planning.

Medication
At Mindtemple, tailor-made treatment is provided to cater to your needs. We believe in rational use of medication, in situations where it is required. Just as physical disorders require medication, certain psychological disorders also require the use of medication, due to their biological nature. Early treatment goes a long way in improving your quality of life and overall well- being. Medication is usually coupled with counselling sessions to provide maximum benefit to our clients.
Other Treatment Modalities
Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (RTMS)
In RTMS the individual’s brain is stimulated non-invasively, through a handheld device (electromagnet). RTMS has successfully helped in relieving symptoms of various psychiatric and neurological disorders like Depression, Schizophrenia, Mania, PTSD, OCD, Phobias, Panic Disorders, ADHD, Eating Disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, MS – to name a few.
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is a safe, efficient and often life-saving treatment used to treat specific mental health conditions. It involves administering a small dose of well-controlled electric current near the forehead of the client, to stimulate his/her brain cells. ECT is not painful because a person is under deep sleep when the electrical stimulus is administered. It is administered by a team consisting of a psychiatrist, anaesthetist and nurses.
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation tDCS is a Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation technique. TDCS has a significant effect on targeted brain areas. This is helpful in regulating imbalances in neuronal activity, which is a mediating factor in psychiatric illnesses. One of the most important aspects of tDCS is its ability to achieve and cause sustained brain activity changes even after the treatment has ended.
Ketamine Infusion
There is a growing body of evidence to support the use of Ketamine in sub-anaesthetic doses to treat treatment refractory depression, especially in acutely suicidal patients. It can be used to buy time for other treatment modalities to act, especially in emergency situations. It is given as an intravenous infusion in normal saline, under supervision, in an indoor setting.
BOTOX (depression)
In a condition like depression, the constant frown, or downward curves around the mouth tells our brain to continue feeling sad, low, or disturbed, which in turn releases the negative hormones and neurochemicals. Botulinum toxin, a botox injection is applied around the Glabellar region (just above the nose and between the eyes), which helps relieve the tension around this region, thereby telling the brain to stop feeling tense or down, reducing the depression.
Ultra Rapid Detoxification (UROD)
In the ultra rapid detoxification (UROD) procedure, opiate detoxification is induced by the use of a bolus injection of very high doses of an opiate antagonist (naloxone) under general anaesthesia. Proponents of the procedure claim that complete accelerated detoxification is attained, the patient experiences no withdrawal symptoms, physical dependency is eliminated, and the psychological craving for drugs is greatly reduced.
Nicotine Spray
This medication can help you quit smoking by replacing the nicotine in cigarettes. Nicotine nasal spray is available by prescription only. Nicotine nasal spray delivers nicotine faster than the other NRTs, achieving peak plasma levels between 5 and 10 min after delivery, perhaps leading to a better efficacy in relieving acute cravings in comparison to gum or lozenge.
ESWT (Extracorporeal shock wave therapy)
A common cause of erectile dysfunction is reduced blood flow or vascular supply in the penis, called vasculogenic ED. ESWT is a new treatment option for ED, which aims to improve blood flow in the penis and cure Impotence/ Erectile Dysfunction, thus enabling the patient to achieve and maintain dependable erections.
Drug Testing
Drug tests allow us to detect the presence of drugs in one’s system, helping to identify and treat a drug problem, which may be the cause of various personality/adjustment issues. Tests are available for various drugs based on a urine sample, and are conducted at the clinic itself.
Tests for the following Drugs of abuse are now available:
