She has been patient with me, and helped me realize that nothing I’m saying or doing makes me difficult, rather I could use it for my benefit and speaking with her has definitely increased my confidence when I never realized that was low. It is hard to tell someone you are depressed, and it is harder still to tell yourself you need help. I think those two things pretty much describe my struggle with mental health. In India especially as a non-cisgender man, it is very hard to come to accept that there is a point after which you can’t cope on your own and I am lucky to have come across Mindtemple and even luckier to have been accepted as a client of Mr. Thakur. Over the past 4 years with the help of Mr. Thakur I have seen myself through new eyes and gained a deeper understanding of what I have gone through in my early childhood and what impact it continues to have on me as a grown man, and more importantly how to manage those feelings and respond to them in a meaningful effective emotional way. With Mr. Thakur and Dr. Anjali’s help, I have come to a point where I can look back and appreciate my journey till now and what I need to work on in the future to live a more fulfilled emotionally stable life.

I’ve been coming to Mindtemple for close to 5 years now. It was my first time doing therapy and I was understandably nervous about what to expect but Forum came highly recommended through a friend. Dr Prerna has been very kind and efficient in her work. We have been consulting her for more than a month now for my father’s smoking and alcohol dependence and she has wonderfully helped us manage the issue with medications and her counseling. She also went out of her way to find and suggest us a support group nearby our residency. The human mind is a plethora of emotions/ thoughts which when it becomes unmanageable, is very overwhelming! I found myself conflicted with such thoughts which deterred me from perceiving things around me in a normal way. This is where Dr Anjali and my therapist Ms Anisha intervened. They came in and helped me distinguish things/ situations that are toxic/unhealthy for me. I find myself fortunate that I came across both of them. They not only counselled me but also made me find a lot of positive things in myself that I wasn’t even aware of. The Comeback is Always Stronger than the Setback I’m a mid 30’s woman residing in Delhi. I went through a breakup/separation towards the end of last year. The separation was extremely painful for me. I was left anxious, sad and extremely stressed. Heartbreak was not unfamiliar to me. But, this time, I knew I had to seek help to get over the relationship. I contacted Mind Temple and began therapy with Ms Kanan Kanakia. Over the last 8 months, I have steadily improved with therapy and my therapist’s support. What particularly helped me were the following aspects of therapy: Disruptions of my faulty assumptions/ cognitions by the therapist. Focus on the scheduling of activities. Customisation and alignment of interventions (quantity + type) to my needs and emotional states. Distressing events are part and parcel of everyone’s lives. However, seeking help can make the healing journey much more bearable. I seriously recommend therapy! Filled with gratitude, I want to thank Mind Temple and Ms Kanakia for the support provided to me during this difficult period of time. Today, I have negligible anxiety/ stress with regard to the event. On most occasions, I remain optimistic and happy. My improvement is not complete. But, today I know, I have the requisite armoury to take on life’s stressors.
